Terms And Conditions
Agreement of Terms and Conditions
Your instructor will always aim to give you the very best service and the highest quality driving instruction.
You can expect to receive nothing but the very best from us, and it’s important that you agree to be as fair with your instructor as we are with you.
Please take time to read through these terms and conditions, print the document, sign it and bring it with you for your instructor to keep.
What you can expect from us:
You instructor will agree to provide you with a step by step training course tailored to your abilities and your requirements.
Your instructor will provide you with professional advice regarding study materials for your Theory and Practical tests.
Your instructor will be highly trained and will display an official DSA identification card in the windscreen during your lessons.
The instructor will be a licensed trainee or a fully qualifed instructor.
Your instructor will fully adhere to the DSA’s code of conduct. This means they will be professional at all times.
Your instructor will be patient and understanding, recognising that you are an individual with your own needs and requirements.
You will be allowed to progress at your own rate, and you can expect the full help and support of your instructor each and every step of the way.
Your training car will be kept in a roadworthy, safe and legal condition for use during the lessons. Smoking is not allowed in the car under any circumstances and the car will be maintained to allow you to take your lesson in comfort.
Each of your lessons will last a minimum of one hour, and you will be the only student in the car.
If your instructor finds it necessary to cancel your lesson, they will make every effort to give at least 24 hours notice, and you are asked to accept that such cancellations may occur in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as illness or vehicle breakdown.
If your instructor has to cancel they will make every effort to rebook you as soon as possible. If they are not able to rebook you in the same week you will be credited with a 1 hour lesson.
Your instructor will always aim to be on time for your lessons, although you are asked to accept that traffic conditions and unforeseen circumstances may sometimes prevent this. In these circumstances your instructor will attempt to contact you and inform you, and the training time lost will be added to either the current lesson or a subsequent training session.
What we expect from you:
You must act in an appropriate and responsible manner during your training sessions. Your instructor will terminate a training period, lesson or complete course if they deem that you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs at any time during a lesson and/or display inappropriate or acceptable behaviour toward the instructor and/or other road users.
The instructor reserves the right to terminate all tuition if you continuously or regularly cancel appointments.
Payment
You are responsible for ensuring that payment for your training session is made to the instructor, as per the fees arranged for you.
You are also responsible for the payment of any fees charged by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) for Theory and Practical Driving test.
Each lesson MUST be paid for on the day at the end of the lesson or in advance. Do not book or commence a lesson without the means to pay. This is not acceptable under any circumstances.
If you are late for a lesson, then the lesson will still run for the booked time. It will not be extended unless the instructor is able to accommodate you.
If you have booked a block booking of 10 or more lesson, these must be paid for in full in ADVANCE in order to qualify for the discounted rates or free lessons as advertised. Under no circumstances will your account be allowed to go into arrears.
Payment can be made in cash, cheque or via PayPal or Google Checkout, secure online payment providers. All major credit and debit cards can be used.
Booking Driving Tests
The instructor reserves the right to withdraw the training vehicle for a practical driving test if in their opinion you are driving in a manner they consider to be a potential danger to yourself, the instructor, any other road user or a DSA examiner.
You must discuss booking practical driving tests with the instructor and agree dates and times prior to booking a test with the DSA. The instructor reserves the right to refuse you the use of the training vehicle for tests if a booking is made without the agreement of the instructor.
Verbal agreement must be obtained from your own driving instructor before you book a test, this does not include speaking with the call centre operator or any other third party. Leaving a voice message or text messaging the instructor is not acceptable, and is in no way proof that permission has been sought or indeed granted.
If you book a test without consulting your instructor, the instructor reserves the right to decline to take you or to decline the use of the training vehicle. If they have the opinion that you will not be of test standard before the date you have booked.
The instructor further reserves the right to decline a test booking if they have not driven with you within the last month. This is because your driving standards may have slipped and may need further work.
If you book a test without consulting your instructor and within the time frame when a cancellation is not possible without losing your fee, then that is the risk you take. If you then contact your instructor and they are not able to accommodate you, then you will lose your test fee and neither Bumpers Driver Training or your instructor will be liable for the lost amount or any costs involved surrounding it.
Lessons
You must be in possession of a current provisional, full or other UK driving licence entitling you to drive the training vehicle, and must produce your licence to the instructor whenever you are asked to do so.
Lesson Cancellations
If you have to cancel an appointment for any reason other than a medical emergency, the instructor requires 24 hours notice, If you fail to adhere to this, the instructor reserves the right to charge you the full amount of the training period or lesson that was booked for you. If the instructor arrives at your address to pick you up for a lesson and you are not there (NO SHOW), you WILL be charged for the full lesson that was booked.
Cancellations can only be confirmed by calling or texting the instructor.
If an account falls into arrears due to a cancellation or a NO SHOW, you will be expected to pay for the lesson at the start of a subsequent training session. If there are no further training sessions then you must take alternative measures to pay your instructor. If you instructor does not receive payment, they reserve the right to pursue the debt via the small claims court.
You must contact your instructor as soon as possible if there are any changes to your pick up or drop off point. If there are changes and the pick up or drop of point is significantly different to the planned locations, then your instructor will shorten the lesson to allow for the extra unplanned travelling time.
Your Rights
If you have booked a lesson or a course of lessons, either via the telephone or via the website you have a 7 day cooling off period in which to cancel.
The right to cancel begins the day the contract is agreed and ends either 7 working days after agreement or, if performance (your lesson) is agreed to begin within the cooling off period, when performance starts.
If you are booking an intensive course of lessons, for example 10 hours or more over a set period of time and you decide to cancel after the 7 day cooling off period but before lessons commence then we charge the following cancellation fees.
Bulk Booking / Intensive Course Cancellation Fees:
4 Weeks notice: NO Charge
3 Weeks notice: NO Charge
2 Weeks notice: Up to 25% of the amount paid
1 Weeks notice: Up to 50% of the amount paid
Less than 1 weeks Up to 100% of the amount paid
If part payment has been made and you cancel at short notice, ie less that 1 week, we will still require you to pay the remainder of the course fees. We reserve the right to take legal action if need be.
If you have received a discount under the guise of commencing a ‘intensive’ course and then cancel your course. The above fees apply, in addition, discount rates will revert to the normal hourly rate for the purposes of a refund.
The above fees will only be charged if the instructor cannot fill the training slots you have booked. If they can fill the slots you can have a full refund.
These charges are in place to protect the instructor who cannot replace your booking at such short notice.
We feel these charges are fair.
